Praying for Myanmar, Bangladesh in Path of Cyclone

MyanmarCRS’ staff in southeast Asia are closely monitoring the path of tropical cyclone Mahasen, headed for Myanmar, Bangladesh and India. Nearly 2 million people could experience effects of the storm.  It is expected to make landfall by Wednesday bringing high winds and flooding. The storm could cause a massive humanitarian crisis as the projected path includes a low-lying region of Myanmar where  more than 130,000 people are living in crowded, makeshift camps after being forced to flee their homes after violence erupted last year.

In 2008, CRS supported the emergency relief efforts of Caritas Internationalis after Cyclone Nargis devastated this region of Myanmar.

Please join us in prayer for the families in the path of this storm and for CRS staff and partners on the ground.
